Where Did January Go?!

In the words of Victor Meldrew, “Oh my gosh I don’t believe it!” Its already February in this wonderful year of 2017! January was a bit of a blur really and I think February looks to be shaping up that way too seen as its already one week in.

I know I should have written a blog post last weekend but I kind of forgot and decided as I don’t have much progress in terms of my list I would just wait a little bit longer to write a new blog post.

So what have I been up to since I last wrote…well in all honesty not too much! I am well on my way to becoming a guide leader now and I have already attended my first course in order to gain my leader qualification. I have also bought myself my new leader uniform and honestly it was one of my proudest moments putting it on. I have given myself a new focus by becoming a guide leader and I am really enjoying getting to know the guides within my unit!

I have also finished my first PGCE placement, been back at university for 2 weeks and half way through completing a 2 week mini placement within a SEN school (which I am fully enjoying!). I feel that I now know for sure that I would like to eventually become a SEN teacher and if a job post appeared for me to complete my NQT year of teaching in a SEN school I would jump at it, however, those types of jobs are usually few and far between sadly!

I have made slight progress with number 4. Run a 10K event as I have now officially signed up to complete the 10K Race for Life event in Manchester on Sunday 9th July. I have completed this particular event twice before, but like I have previously mentioned in my list blog post, I did not run most of these events but I intend to run for most of this one.

All in all I have not completed much of my list so far but on a positive note I am feeling much happier emotionally with myself than I was at the start of the year. In the wise words of How I Met Your Mother it is true that unfortunately some people’s friendship and importance in our lives does have an expiration date, but that’s perfectly fine and by blocking people out of our lives who’s expiration date has overrun we are then able to let fresh new people take their place.

So 2017 I am still coming at you with full force, so beware!

“We struggle so hard to hold on to these things that we know are gonna disappear eventually. And that’s really noble.” – Lily, How I Met Your Mother
