January Blues?

So it’s been a week now since my last blog post and two weeks since New Year and a can safely say that January is shaping up to be a good month! Although New Year itself was not the best time for me, support from my nearest and dearest provided me with a better thinking mentality. After putting certain things and people from 2016 in the ‘fuck it bucket’ (after drunken advice from one of my best friends) I was ready to face 2017.

Just after New Year I went to London with my sister to see Rent the musical. Anyone that knows me well enough will know I am a huge fan of the theatre and musicals, with Rent being one of my favourite musicals. This was the first time I had seen Rent on the stage and I would definitely go again!

About to watch Rent

Open top bus around London

After a lovely 2 days in London it was back to the PGCE life for me. I feel that I am finally getting into the swing of teaching and I feel confident to teach my current class on my own. However, I will leave my current placement on Friday and I am dubious about completing my KS2 placement. I know I want to teach KS1 and I am beyond worried that I don’t have the ability to teach a higher age group but I guess I will just have to see what happens.

Within my personal life however everything seems to be falling into place. After a lovely evening this past Friday spent in the company of someone new I am in much happier spirits and looking forward to the next coming weeks. I feel that it is true when people say that negative energy will bring negativity and positive energy will positivity and at the moment being positive is going rather well.

In terms of my list it is still early in January and I haven’t had too much time to consider my list yet. I am working on number 7 (to become a Guide Leader) and I will be attending my first Guide session this coming Thursday; quite looking forward to it! I am also in the progress of completing number 16 (to get a teaching job), most teaching jobs start appearing around this time of the year and I have applied for the local teaching pools (local councils will put your name forward for jobs within that local authority, if you can get into a teaching pool it will stand you in good stead).

Overall progress on completing my list is slow at the moment, but I knew it would be as we are only 2 weeks into 2017 and most of my list won’t get completed until late 2017!
